(sold by order of the Executors), the final portion, comprising old English drinking glasses, rare important and interesting old English drinking glasses, including wine, cordial and ale glasses with engraved, enamelled and cut ornament; armorial, masonic, electioneering, privateer, sporting, historic and Irish volunteer glasses; a fine series of wine glasses with colour twist stems, very fine sweetmeat and comfit glasses, a series of rare taper sticks and candlesticks, exceedingly rare Anglo-Venetian glass, including a superb covered goblet, two rummers, and a fine serpent glass; an important collection of rare Jacobite and Loyalist glasses, comprising Scottish and club glasses; coin glasses and portrait glasses, including portrait glasses of William III, George Prince of Wales and Prince Charles Edward; a fine “fiat” decanter; the famous “Watkin” glass from Oxburgh Hall, and the rare covered coin goblet with a bust portrait of the Duke of Marlborough, or Prince Eugene, forming the knop of the cover; many of the glasses described have been illustrated in standard works on the subject by Joseph Bles, Francis Buckley, Grant R.
