Ralph Isham, C.B.E., of Glen Head, Long Island, U.S.A., and sold by his order; a fine manuscript of Tacitus' Annals, books XI-XXI, decorated by Nicola Rapicano; illuminated service books; early incunables; a collection of books relating to tobacco; the criminological library of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle; a fine and extensive series of books with coloured plates, some in uncut state, and including a desirable copy of Orme's British Field Sports, 1807; good sets of the novels of Thackeray and Dickens, in the original parts; inscribed peresentation copies of works by Lord Tennyson, an many others XIX century rarities, including Byron's Waltz, 1813; the property of the Countess of Kenmare; of Major H. G. H. Galton (decd.); of Edward Dent, Esq. (decd.); and of other owners. The autograph letters, etc. include the autograph manuscripts of Bohemia, an unpublished play by Sir J. M. Barrie, the property of R. J. Younger, Esq., Mansfield, Callander, Perthshire; Barrie's first book, "Better Dead"; and Rudyard Kipling's famous poem, "The White Man's Burden"; a fine and extensive collection of autograph manuscripts and letters of famous musicians, including Chopin, Liszt, Mendelssohn, Meyerbeer, Paderewski, Rubinstein, Wagner, Weber and many others; an interesting letter of George Vancouver, the property of the late A. S. Petrie, Esq.; and a magnificent series of letters by Charles Dickens, containing many references to his works, which will be sold by auction by Messrs. Sotheby & Co. (G. D. Hobson, M.V.O., F. W.
