Catalogue of coins and medals including the collection of Greek and Roman coins, Alexandrian and other Egyptian coins, &c. formed by the late H. Martyn Kennard, esq. of Lowndes Square, S.W., the collection formed by the most rev. William Markham, 1719-1807, archbishop of York, and augmented by his descendants, expecially by his son George Markham, dean of York, consisting chiefly of Greek & Roman, with a few English, coins, a small collection of English tokens, and other properties, comprising Greek, Roman, and a few Anglo-Saxon coins, coin cabinets, numismatic books, &c. which will be sold by auction, by Messrs. - La vente eut lieu les 20 et 21 décembre 1916 ; La maison de vente Sotheby, Wilkinson & Hodge, créée par Samuel Baker en 1744, prit le nom Sotheby’s en 1924 et déménagea de Wellington Street pour New Bond Street en 1917

- Henry Martyn Kennard (1833-1911) fut Justice of the Peace, Deputy Lieutenant ainsi que High Sheriff du Monmouthshire en 1863 ; Il fit don de plusieurs objets, antiquités égyptiennes principalement, au British Museum
- Il est précisé que la collection fut constituée par le révérend William Markham (1719-1807), archevêque d'York puis par son fils George Markham (1763-1822), dean of York, doyen responsable de la gestion de la cathédrale, et vendue par leurs descendants
