Le titre de baron Braye fut crée en 1529 ; Lord Alfred Thomas Townshend Verney-Cave (1849-1928) n’en fut que le 5e baron, le titre ayant disparu pendant près de 300 ans ; Son fils, lord Adrian Verney-Cave, lui succéda à sa mort
