Catalogue of the famous collection of old engravings formed principally between the years 1864 and 1920 by the late Henry Percy Horne, Esq., of 49, Gloucester Gardens, London, W. First day's sale: choice of rare mezzotints, in fine early states, illlustrating the art of mezzotint engraving from its discovery in 1642 until the end of the 18th century. Second day's sale: a collection of engravings, after Sir Joshua Reynolds, P.R.A., engraved in mezzotint and stipple, and a collection of mezzotints, after Rembrandt Van Rhyn, many in fine and rare proof states, by celebrated engravers; fine decorative stipple engravings, including Cries of London, finely printed in colours; a number of portraits, by different engravers, after Richard Cosway, R.A.; also a few fine engravings by old masters; French engravings, some finely printed in colours; aquatints in colours of sporting and other subjects; etc. Third day's sale: engravings after J. M. W. Turner, R.A.; a choice series of mezzotints, by D. Lucas, after J. Constable, R.A., many in unique proof states; fine modern etchings and engravings, by James McBey, Sir F. Short, Samuel Palmer and others; legal portraits, engraved in mezzotint, line and stipple; and a very fine collection of portraits of illistrious personages, by J. Houbraken, brilliant proofs before letters, in very fine condition, which will be sold by auction by Messrs. Sotheby & Co. (the Rt. Hon. Sir Montague Barlow, Bt., P.C., K.B.E., G. D.
